CURRENT INFORMATION

  • Global number of cases reported – 12.8 Million with 568,000 deaths. Case numbers increased by 1.4M in the last week.

  • Recovery rates remain high, with 7 M cases classed as recovered.

  • NEW - (13/7) COVID-19 cases in Victoria continue to climb. Updated case numbers are shown below. Total case numbers have doubled since 22/6/2020

  • NEW - (13/7) US case numbers continue to grow rapidly. New graphic shown below, with rapid growth in California, Texas and Florida.

  • (6/7) ABC News report showing increased anti-depressant use in Queensland during pandemic. Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme data has shown the use of the most commonly prescribed antidepressant drugs increased by 10 per cent between January and May in 2020 (LINK).

  • (6/7) Added new graphic showing diagnosed seasonal influenza cases for Australia 2015-2020. Peak in cases occurs typically in August and September. Important for people to remain at home when symptoms occur and consider testing.

  • (29/6) Brazil and India case numbers are rapidly growing. New data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has conducted modelling, predicting the trend in new cases. See the data below.

  • (22/6) Mental Health of Australians during April 2020. New data released from the Medical Journal of Australia showed that mental health problems were at least twice as prevalent as in non-pandemic circumstances (LINK). These results are consistent with another recent sample study from India. Their results showed 1/3 of respondents have experienced a significant psychological impact from the COVID-19 pandemic (LINK).

  • UPDATED - (27/6) WA Government COVID Roadmap - Phase 4 commences. (LINK). Travel restrictions are unchanged. With Phase 5 delayed until August.
