Respiratory Physician

OSHGroup is pleased to welcome Dr Eli Gabbay, Respiratory Physician, to our specialist panel.

Professor Eli Gabbay is an esteemed Respiratory Physician with over three decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience in respiratory and occupational medicine.

Graduating with Honours from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1987, Professor Gabbay obtained his Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine in 1995. His specialist training included placements at Royal Perth Hospital, Freeman Hospital (Newcastle upon Tyne), and Stanford University Hospital (USA), where he also completed his Directorate of Medicine.

He currently serves as Professor of Medicine at both The University of Notre Dame Australia and UWA, and holds multiple senior leadership roles, including Deputy Director of Medical Services and Director of Clinical Training at St John of God Medical Services. In addition, he contributes to policy and governance through key positions within the WA Department of Health.

Professor Gabbay’s commitment to advancing the field of respiratory medicine extends beyond clinical practice. As Chairman of the Bendat Family Respiratory Research and Development Fund, he remains deeply involved in clinical research, education, and mentoring, with an ongoing focus on improving outcomes for patients with complex lung disease.

His specialist interests include Advanced Lung Disease, Occupational Lung Disease, and Medico-Legal Assessments. He is an approved Respiratory Specialist for WorkCover WA and brings extensive expertise in providing authoritative medico-legal reports and expert opinions.

Currently, new referrals are limited to medico-legal assessments and occupational lung disease.
